CyberCommunities: Instructions for Blogging and Commenting

Welcome to Unit 2 of Cyber 110! In this unit each of you will explore a Digital Neighborhood and write a research paper about your findings. This unit will require you to familiarize yourself with your online community by taking part in its activities; research articles that discuss the history of your community or its social impacts; and share the information you find with the class.

For each class 2-3 people will lead class discussions about their communities. If you are presenting on a Tuesday, you should post a link to your article on this blog by Saturday at noon. If you are presenting on a Thursday, you should post a link to your article by Tuesday at midnight. Everyone in the class will be required to read your article for discussion. Please find articles that are informative and in-depth. They should be approximately 2-8 pages in length.

All students are required to read all articles posted by me or by other students before class. There will be occasional quizzes on this material.

After the class discusses your article, you have until noon the next day to post a summary/analysis of the class discussion and/or article. Everyone in the class is required to comment on at least two posts per week. Your comments must be entered before the following class or you will not receive credit.

Good luck!
